An exciting two days

So I had a fun two days.

day one: You know those shirts they talk about on collegehumor all the time? The ones where it’s the three wolves howling at the moon? Well the other day at work I saw to different people wearing the shirt which kind of made my day.

day two: I was at work (yesterday) and received a text message from my friend mike asking if I wanted to go to a live collegehumor show that night. I initially was hesitant. I was at work, hadn’t properly mentally prepped for going out after work instead of straight home to comfy clothes and music, and I had work the next day (today). And then in a sudden, awesome epiphany I realized that those excuses were all quite impotent and not a single one provided me with any sort of real reason not to go to something I would in all likelyhood enjoy very much. So in the spirit of new years and new beginings I decided to break from my modus operandi and go out to the show.

I am very glad I did, I had an awesome time. Very funny, very cool space, got to see jeff rubens’ stand up (funny) streeter’s stand up (very funny) and jake and amir’s stand up (not quite as funny, in my opinion it works much better as sketch comedy then in a stand up environment). Also it was hosted by pete holmes who I think is hilarious and by (excuse my potentially extremely ethnocentric spelling) kumir who plays jake’s brother in a couple of jake and amir sketches and he was also really funny.

Highlights: Streeter did a joke about how every year he plans on not shaving or cutting his hair all winter and wearing big bulky clothes all winter. And he plans to secretly go to the gym and get ripped over the next few months but not let anybody know and then shave, cut his hair and rip off his shirt come spring to great cheers from his friends and the general female population.

This has been my plan since…oh, i dunno, sophomore year?

He prefaced the joke by pointing at my friend and saying, I think this guy is probably gonna get what I’m about to say

After the show I got to shake Pete Holmes’ hand and say hi to him. Really cool, super nice guy. I was very excited.

Lowlights: Pete Holmes did a joke about the met and how much he hates going there because it amounts to him spending saturday staring at things he doesn’t understand in order to make other people think he “gets” them. Very funny bit. I wasn’t till after I had talked to him and left and was halfway to the train until I realized that SHIT! I TOTALLY SHOULD HAVE SAID OH BY THE WAY I WORK AT THE MET!!!!

oh well. apparently he hosts a comedy night every Tuesday there, and I am definitely going back so maybe I’ll catch him another time.

That friend was me! Totally gonna have to get ripped now.
